HR alert notification

Hello,

Basically I always wear an instinct solar with the HR alert turned on and I usually record cycling activities only on a Edge 530 with an indoor or outdoor profile depending on what I'm doing (HR alert notification disabled on the edge).
When I'm running an outdoor activity I don't get HR alerts on the instinct which is fine given that I'm exercising.
The thing is that, while training indoors, I get notified on the instinct for HR being high.

So it looks like the instict handle the thing differently depending on the type of activity run on the edge.

Does anybody know what is the expected behaviour?

Thanks and Regards

If I understand correctly, the Instinct doesn't give you the alert if you start an activity on the watch, but it does when you use your Edge?  If this is the case I would assume this is normal behavior as the watch will pick up your elevated HR, but because it isn't during a recorded activity on the watch, it will alert you.

  • Thanks for the reply.

Yes, you got me right. Since I don't get alerts when outdoors I thought that the feature was there and there was just a bug with indoors activity.
Instead it looks like the bug is with outdoors activity for which I don't get the alerts.

I could understand the missing feature, if both the devices were cheap and from different brands and we were in the 1990s.

Since none of the three is true, one would expect a certain type of integration for certain features.

I mean, I'm on the streets riding the bike and Garmin requires me to get my hands off the handlebar to turn the beeping off?!?

  • Since for what I'm understanding garmin products doesn't talk to each other I'll put this in another way.

Is it my watch failing on automatically  detecting that I'm exercizing indoor (no activity manually started)?

If I'm pedaling, how normal is that I get a "Move!" bar? Is it the Move IQ that fails?

    Regards
