Instinct Solar software version 14.00 Beta

Installation Instructions

  1. Download and unzip InstinctSolar_****Beta.zip.
  2. Place the gupdate.gcd file, found in the System_v*** folder, into the \GARMIN folder of the device.
  3. If there is a BLE_ANT_v*** folder, place the gup3468.gcd file into the \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder of the device.
  4. If there is a SensorHub_v*** folder, place the gup3467.gcd file into the \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder of the device.
  5. If there is a GPS_v*** folder, place the 006B310711.gcd file into the \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder of the device.
  6. Disconnect from your computer and proceed through the update.
  7. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, drop the gupdate.gcd file, found in the System_Backdate_v**** folder, into the \GARMIN folder of the device.
  8. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • If you did correctly put the gupdate.gcd file in the \GARMIN folder of your watch (and it takes a while to fully transfer the file from your computer to the watch), then when you ejected the watch from the computer, the watch should have shown you a prompt saying that the update was detected and asking if you want to proceed with the installation. If that did not happen, I would recommend repeating the full procedure from scratch (my apologies if you already did it and doesn't work), as follows.

    1. Reconnect the watch to the computer.

    2. Delete any  gupdate.gcd file that might now be in the \GARMIN folder. (Note that you may have put the file in the wrong folder by mistake; it happened to me before).

    3. Copy again the gupdate.gcd file of V14.00 to the watch \GARMIN folder (ensure that you wait until the copy is fully finished before ejecting the watch; it may take a while).

    4. Eject the watch.

    5. You should see now see the prompt on the watch.

    Best of luck

  • Remember this update may not be recognised on APAC watches, it will simply delete it. Are you sure you have a Rest of World (ROW) version solar instinct? have you installed beta versions before?
