Deleting unused languages?

I just installed the Beta 13.81 and noticed that the TEXT folder contains lots of files with large sizes. These are the various language files.

For comparison, one Komoot course is 3k in size, but all of the language files are larger than 70k. I would rather delete unused languages than have to worry about courses filling up my watch.

Is it okay to simply delete those language files that I do not intend to use?

You really do not need it. However, you can back it up before deleting, if you are worried. Or just keep it if you prefere, it is not that big, but…

You can safely delete all files from this folder, except the one you are using. And if you use the default English, you can empty the folder completely - the english.ln3 is not necessary. The files are probably a remnant of an older installation, since recent versions of the firmware do not install those files. They install only the selected language, and it is then downloaded through Garmin Express. It definitely did not come with the v13.81 - I rechecked my TEXT folder, and it is still empty, despite having the latest beta.

Thank you for the quick and thorough answer Trux.

I will delete all except the English one, just for in case the watch still refers to it. Deleting the rest would save a lot of space in itself. These are the files that were already on the watch when I looked at it now for the first time.

P.S. Do you work for Garmin? I notice that you are always helpful here on the forum and know quite a lot about the product. Thank you for that.

Yip, everything I change or delete, I first copy to my PC as a backup. I've been in IT long enough to realise that you always need a backup before changing anything.
