Are we ever going to be able to view battery percentage instead of days without going into the menu?

An estimation of battery life has never been accurate, even when not using the watch it'll use "2 days" of battery in a day.
I know there's an option in the Fenix 6 to choose percent or estimations, and I know many have requested this since the Instinct came out.

Battery percent should be the primary indicator with the estimations being secondary and viewable in the menu.

Can anyone from Garmin comment on this?

  • I second this question as I am a new Instinct Solar owner and this baffles me that I can't see the percentage.  Days mean nothing to me.

  • Thank you for your improvement suggestion. The Instinct series is not exactly the same and slightly different to our Fenix series and what you will see for the battery icon. When using the 3 different ways to observe your battery, you will always know when to charge it. If you are very active, it is best to charge your watch more often regardless of what your battery says, so it is never a worry if you need to grab your watch and go record a long activity.

To determine your battery life, there are 3 components on an Instinct Solar series watch:

    1) On your main watch face, if you use the battery icon as one of your data fields, you will see a battery icon as a bar to represent the charge along with the number of how many approximate days you will receive. The reason the number of days will go up and down and even remain the same number of days for multiple days, is the impact of how much solar charging you receive each day.

    2) Prior to starting any outdoor activity, within the activity itself at the top portion of your display, you will see the number of GPS hours you have left for your battery life.

    3) If you hold down your middle left menu button to go into your menus, in the small window, you will see the number of days remaining for your battery and the battery percentage for your remaining charge, alternating back and forth.

  • The option to choose percent as the primary battery life indicator should be there - especially with so many people requesting it (and it being a universal standard). Having an indicator based on estimated time, which fluctuates and varies by use and solar activity, unless accurate - serves no purpose (other than being secondary to percent to inaccurately gauge how much battery life you have left), especially when "no use" doesn't equal 1 day of battery life.

  • Thank your for your feedback. I will be happy to pass it along.
