Hi, first time posting so please be gentle.
For the past couple of weeks, course following on a ‘Run’ activity has not worked correctly. This may have started after the last software update to version 13.20, but I can’t be certain.
Starting out for maybe the first 200 meters or so the device shows I’m on course; then I get a beep/buzz and an off course symbol. Distance to next turn point starts increasing, and the navigation direction arrow in the top-right inset window shows 180 degrees off course (i.e. points behind me). Distance to destination is also obviously incorrect.
I initially though the course was navigating in reverse (which is an option on the watch), but when on an out-and-back part of the course you’d expect to be on course on at least one direction, but that’s not the case.
I usually create courses via Strava routes then make favorites, but have the same issues when creating the course in Garmin Connect. In both these cases I’m using the Connect app on a cellphone to sync favorite courses with the device via Bluetooth.
What did sort-of work is exporting the .fit file from Connect and manually uploading that to the ‘Courses’ folder. This however has no turn-by-turn directions, so is on limited use when navigating, where the nudge that a turn is coming up is important. But at least I had an accurate distance to destination.
I have yet to try manually exporting a .gpx from GC and uploading that to ‘NewFiles’ – tomorrow’s run.
I have also reached out to Garmin support, but wondered if other users might have experienced the same issues.
Many thanks!
