Help! No GPS Map on App after running

I bought an Instinct Solar.

GPS map shows up on walks.

But on my runs, the map does not show up on the phone app. I know for sure the GPS is on.

I've tried resetting the watch.

Not sure what else to do.

I do not leave the watch connected to the phone, I connect it once a day to download the days activities.

Any advice?

Thanks!

  • I also faced the same issue... any help would be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Deb

  • There are more possibilities - expired/corrupt ephemeris file (CPE on Instinct Solar, EPO on the standard Instinct), disabled GPS in the Activity profile settings, lack of GPS signal (for exampe due to hirise buildings), etc. Also the FIT file of the activity could be damaged. Hard to tell without having any details and seing the data. Before you start the run, wait till the GPS lock (check sign in the eye field). If it is not there, it means the GPS did not acquire you position yet.

  • UPDATE:

I figured it out, I updated the watch via Garmin Express and that seemed to have solved the issue for me.

BTW, Garmin Express is very buggy, I took a long time to get it to work.

Yes, unless you have a phone with active data connection with you in the moment you start the activity, you have to update the watch regularly via Garmin Express, to refresh the ephemeris file. Best doing it before every outdoor activity.
