[Surf] - Persist Tide Data

Hi!

I was wondering if you could pretty please persist tide data when the watch looses connection with phone. The moment I step into the water all tide data is lost and I'm left sitting in the water not knowing what the heck tide it is. This almost defeats the entire purpose of my watch.

Additionally if you could integrate a tide face when in surf mode that would also be awesome! You really need this data when surfing. It makes a huge difference.

I definitely think this feature would make sooooo many people happy! Somewhere from 3-7 days of last tide data would be absolutely amazing! Heck even 1 day would be good for now.

Otherwise, kuddos on making an amazing watch. I love everything about it.

If I only had to connect to my phone every few days that would make this by far the best watch on the market for surfing and outdoor activities.

Thanks Garmin!

  • Have you set up the beach in question as a favourite so it shows on the home screen?

  • As soon as you select an activity the tide data is cleared. Pretty stupid if you happen to be in a place with no cell coverage...like almost every place I like to surf. Basically means I can't choose any activity if I want tide data.

Why not cache a day or two? That can't be much memory

  • Not sure if anyone can validate, but since a few months ago this issue that also bugged me appears to be solved. I've been surfing in the same spot where 1 year ago my watch would loose the tide data (No Tide Data) and now I can see the tide data on the watch face for the entire surf session.

There were some software updates recently and I wonder if this was one of the upgrades :-)

  • Going back through the prior updates, the v16.50 software update mentions Surf improvements. Engineering did not go into high level detail in the release notes but it was my understanding there were multiple improvements made.
