Not allow to calibrate compass when doing navigation course activity

Hi,

Can I calibrate compass when I am doing navigation to a course activity? Today I was doing hiking to navigate a course. Every time I click the calibrate compass then select "Start" it display "Retry" right away even not showing figure 8 diagram.
