Crash during swimming pool activity on pressing rest button manually

Hi everyone,

the same issue as for mountain climbing activity with navigation my watch crashed today in a swimming pool while I pressed the rest button.

I had the same issue last week while swimming but I thought it was due to upgrade to FW 11.00 because activity restored after crash.

Today unfortunately my activity stopped and saved and I needed to stat it again.

Does anyone have same issues while swimming?

Best Regards

Mihail

  • Yes, my wife has had this happen with her Instinct Solar (with firmware 12.2 installed). It also happens on running activities (for both of us).

  • OMG! I just discovered this site, I have been having this swim function crash problem repeatedly, although occasionally it works so I am never sur if it’s me or the watch.   It worked ok when I first got in about Nov 2020, but since then very spotty.  Last worked 12/17/20.  I have been calling Garmin and repeatedly reassured they were fixing the software problem.   I demanded an exchange of Instinct Solar and just tried out the new one today 01/14/21.   Unfortunately had the same problem, I swam about 1000 meters, then went to push the stop button to save and the whole activity went to a black triangle and was not recorded.   Is this problem going to be fixed.  I bought the watch for recording swimming.

  • Yep, same here I complained to support multiple times about crashing on the swim function, got an exchange watch and tried it out today.   Still not working .  It appears to count lap lengths for about 1000 meters, then quits or is unable to save data and transfer to iPhone.

Same for me too, as it was a new watch for Xmas, I kept thinking it was the way I pressed the buttons as I am not too dextrous after an icy morning swim......but watch goes into navigate and then loses the swim data. My opinion is that the software is not fit for purpose.

    1. Garmin is well aware of the swimming function issue.  They claim it will be fixed in a software update but I’m starting to doubt that they have intentions of fixing it.  Mine has had this problem since purchased 9/20.

I bought a used fenix for swimming. The instinct solor is currently a very expensive table ornament.

Yet another pool session not saved as it decides to reset after 1,000M - WTF this is killing me. Paid a lot for this watch and my SUUNTO outperforms this. Its like buying an Alfa Romeo not knowing if it will start.

Garmin please fix - I thought your supposed to be dependable

  • Please report this issue directly to garmin support. I can't now test in lockdown how its working because our swimming pools are closed now. But as I reported then I received a confirmation that the bug was registered and after a while seems something done with resolving it. Garmin will not react to these posts here.

  • My watch also has the same problem. When I finish my indoor swimming session, it resets and I lose the session.

Now lately the raised floors do not recognize me correctly either.
