Smart notifications for messages also?

Notifications on Instinct work for call, SMS, as well as for many other system notifications (i.e. email, WhatsApp, Skype, weather alerts, ...). Check what notification you selected in the GCM app settings, and verify Android system permissions

I said smart notifications.

During and activity you have either the choice of "All notifications" or "Smart". Smart on the fenix is calls + messages. Smart on the Instinct Solar are only calls.

They work for calls and messages as well

I only have Phone Calls during activity, now phone calls and messages

I see the option Show All on your watch

In that case, the user forum cannot help you. You need to contact Garmin directly, ask them to extend the options, and hope they'll do it. In the meantime use the option All, and ignore any notifications other than Calls and Messages.

I asked a question to make sure I didn't miss anything. So it's not possible?

You can disable all other types of notifications, except of Calls and Messages, in GCM settings, but it will impact both cases - during the Activity, and out of an Activity as well. So if you want to change it exclusively during the Activity, then no, it is not available (except if you are willing to redo the GCM settings all the time, when starting/stopping an activity)

Yeah, that's not good. On my Fenix 6 I can have smart notifications with calls and messages. I was hoping this worked on the Instinct solar as well.
