Surf edition tide data

Since 10.10 update tide widget has developed issues. I have tide data on watch face. Regularly this now shows 'no data' or 'retrieving data' when Bluetooth connected to phone. Sometimes the widget disappears entirely and is just a blank space on the watch face. Today, it has not updated after low tide to indicate time of high tide. I've restarted watch and issue remains.

UPDATE

Tide time updated to reflect high tide exactly 1 hour after low tide. I am UK and currently BST so I wonder if there's a bug and its incorrectly reading time zone?

It has never been a hardware issue with the watch itself but a software bug that is being resolved.

Why does my instinct solar surf need Bluetooth connection to show the tide data?

Is there anyway I can download the data onto the watch? It’s completely useless having the watch if you have to carry a phone into the surf with you.

My local tides in Newport, Oregon, are not accurate. I have compared local tide charts at South Beach Marina, to my Instinct Pipeline edition, time is close, but height is off?

    Hi Chris,

Just got this watch for Christmas and I'm having the same issue.  The tide time and height is not accurate for Huntington Beach.  It's about 2 hours and a half a foot off.  Also, is there a way to just have the tide displayed on the watch without a connection to a phone?  Obviously you wouldn't take a phone surfing.  Thanks.

  • Same problem here for months. The watch sucks.

  • Except it hasn’t been resolved.

  • hello i'm having the same problem!
Today I received my exchange garmin because the first one damaged the ABC button, in the first one the tides worked perfectly but this new one has -1 hour for the same places in Portugal - Aveiro and Matosinhos, it will be a problem in this new equipment since the previous one worked well??
  • Mine worked correctly with the tides for a few weeks last year but then went back to being 1 hour out again for the last few months now. Once our clocks go forward 1 hour to British Summer Time it'll be correct again. Shame that it's wrong for 6 months of the year and no one is willing to fix the simple issue of local times zones,. Please can someone at Garmin use someone  at Navionics to fix it, they don't have this issue on their devices .

  • It's mind boggling that we even have to talk about this - what constitutes a high priority bug for Garmin? Only when the watch crashes?

  • We should be offered a choice of source data - even editing tide tables manually. Same goes for weather.
