Beta is what it says; Beta, new features and functions, but can be unstable, in my cases ive only had good experiences using the beta vs the stable versions.
Beta you must load/install yourself, stable versions gets pushed via Garmin Connect or Garmin Express when you sync, or you could manually load the software too
