Plans for VO2 Max?

As I understand Instinct is not a running watch, I don’t think adding VO2 max would compromise the sales of the forerunner, or Garmin should at least let Body Battery and RHR metrics etc be shared to GC with Physio TrueUp so you can have the metrics from the VO2 Max enabled watch be able to use it.

  • Everyone needs to go to the garmin feature request page and request it. I already have. I let them know that a watch this expensive should absolutely have VO2max given the competition all has it.

  • considering buying this watch (solar for backpacking) as un upgrade from my forerunner, but you've hooked me on V02 Max.  Pls add.

  • You can sync your Garmin account with runalyze.com for free and view VO2 stats there from your instinct. A little annoying, but doable

  • I only cycle and it seems that runalyze will only estimate vo2 max for runs.  Is that correct?

  • Checked out  runalyze.com and subscribed for a year! Next step is to buy an "Instinct Solar"! Thanks a lot for this hint!

  • But If I upload a running activity recorded with my Instinct Solar it doesn't show me the VO2MAX... How can i do?

  • Hello Garmin! Please could add vO2max measurements  on the watch for upgrade? Here in Brazil the watch is very expensive for us

  • Good morning and just finding this forum for the first time.  Garmin please add VO2 Max, Race Time Predictor, and Training Load to the app for the Garmin Instinct Solar Standard Edition!  It's EASY!  It is the same software as you already have on the brand new Instinct 2!  Would really be nice for those of us who just purchased the Garmin Instinct Solar right before the Instinct 2 came out.

I switched to the Instinct Solar Standard Edition from the COROS Pace 2 because the better HRM on Garmin-- but what's the point of better HRM without better analytics to go with it?  The Coros Pace 2 is less expensive but includes VO2Max both on the watch and in the app, has training load (and history), and a race time predictor.

I saw that the Garmin Instinct version 2 now includes all of these features -- but since these calculations just need the data collected from already existing sensors it should be easy to bring these calculations to the Instinct Solar Standard Edition too.

Sadly I find myself wearing both watches for runs and enjoying the Coros Pace 2 results more despite the poor HRM. (Even my old Fitbit Charge had VO2 max & race predictions.... but VO2 max on there was way off, just calculated using resting heart rate).

ps THANKS to the user who suggested Runalyze- I just created my account there, but really this is something that should be displayed right on the watch screen or on the app at least.

I wonder why you purchased Instinct without VO₂max detection, when you need it, and when you know Instinct 2, unlike Instinct, does support it. On my mind, there is not the slightest chance VO₂max will be ever added to the old Instinct. It does not even necessarily have sufficiently large operating memory that would allow them to add all the necessary code.
