Map shows lines joining Send points as well as Track points

My inReach Explorer+ used to show the track as a single line joining the tracking points. In the last month it has started to also join the send points with a straight line. I have the tracking interval set at 1 minute and the send interval set at 20 minutes. So after a road trip I have the track following the map road fairly closely but also straight lines cutting corners! Does anyone know how to switch this "feature" off?

As the saying goes, "a feature is a bug you can't fix". This problem is not on the device end. It is on the web end. The explore.garmin.com site is supposed to combine the sent points and the logged points into a single line. IIRC, the sent points themselves are still distinguishable - they are larger circles. But the straight lines are supposed to disappear.

The web site is always a work in progress. One bug gets fixed and two more crop up. If the problem persists, open a support ticket.

Edited to add: You may find that the behavior varies if you zoom in and out or if you pan the map. That's a sure sign of something on the web end.

I would suggest only connecting the most frequent, either the logged or sent, but not both.

One would think that under https://status.inreach.garmin.com/ they would indicate reduced functionality for the 'Garmin Explore Website and MapShare' component.

I don't think this is "intentional reduced functionality" or something that is transient. I think it's a bug. Open a support ticket.
