Sunrise/Sunset

Does the inReach have sunrise/sunset hidden somewhere? I can't find it anywhere. My other Garmin GPS's have it, thus I figured the InReach would too.

What say the collective Garmin wizards?

  • AFAIK, legacy devices like the SE+/Explorer+ do not have this feature. These devices were designed by DeLorme prior to their acquisition by Garmin. The legacy devices are narrowly focused on iR functionality - not on general handheld features.

Newer iR devices, designed by Garmin, do have full handheld features including sunrise/sunset. You need something like the GPSMAP 66i or the Montana 7x0i to have these features.

Note that the Mini has one foot in each universe. It is still focused primarily on iR functionality.

  • The Explorer+ does have sunrise/set.  I put it on my Compass screen:  press the options button (triple line), select Change Data Fields, arrow over to preferred display rectangle, select it, then choose from the long list the data you'd like in that spot.  Trip Info & Map can also do this.

  • Bob-qx - Bombdiggity! That's exactly what I needed. I rarely use the compass feature so never considered those fields to try "modifying". Ya gotta have sunrise figured out to hunt, based on your longitude. Wow, I've now got sunrise added to every screen possible. Game changer, thanks.

  • Never thought of that. Seemed to recall lack of a top-level menu item, but did not think about data fields.
