Garmin's map for the Boundary Waters cannot be used on an Explorer +.

Anyone know of a source for a comprehensive BWCA map (not single route) with campsites and portages that can be downloaded to an Explorer +? Thanks!

The ONLY maps that are available for the Explorer+ are those which are available on the explore.garmin.com web site. The Explorer+ is a legacy device. It still uses maps in the old DeLorme format.

If you want to be able to use standard Garmin cartography, you will need one of the newer iR devices which are full members of the Garmin handheld ecosystem - 66i, 68i (marine use), or the Montana 7x0i.

Thank you. I found some GPX files of individual routes that can be downloaded and had hoped there was a comprehensive map/file. I appreciate your quick help!

In general, boots-on-the-ground tracks are a good thing to have - regardless of the quality of the available maps.
