New Garmin Inreach Explorer+ turns it self off in waypoint mode.

I am still learning about my new In Explorer.

I am getting frustrated that everytime I go into waypoint mode, the device creates it's own waypoint based on a previous one I made.

Also in waypoint mode it will reboot itself once, then a short time latter turn it self off completely.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am unclear as to what you mean by waypoint mode.

In any case, first step would be a soft reset. This leaves your data intact.

Next step would be a factory reset. This one deletes all your data. In addition, you will have to redo the outdoor portion of inReach activation.

I no longer have a legacy device with which to test. But if the device is functioning at all, you should be able to perform those resets from the user interface, without having to use all the magic button presses listed in the above two articles.

If none of that works, you will probably have to open a support ticket.

Thanks for your advice Twolpert.

I have just completed a factory reset. And the problems remain.

By waypoint mode, I mean on the device where you make & edit your waypoints. While I am in this area of the device, it shuts itself down.

So, how do I open a support ticket?

They don't make it easy to find. There may be faster ways to get there, but I don't know what they are.

First, go here: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/

Choose your device at the top of the page. Model is sufficient - no need for serial number.

Scroll down to the bottom of "Additional Resources" on the left.

Click Contact Support

Select your device again if necessary (probably will remain selected).

Scroll to the bottom. Click Get Help with Other Topics on the right.

Finally, pick your poison from the buttons at the bottom: Chat, Call, Email.

Based on forum feedback (not personal experience), Email is a black hole. If you have time, choose one of the others.

Hours are listed under the Call option (7 to 7 Central time, M-F, holidays excluded).

Thanks Twolpert. After "text chatting" with USA. I chose to phone Garmin Australia (I'm in PNG). I got through almost straight away. They told me that it was probably a hardware issue and that they would replace unit. They promptly sent me an email asking for photos of my unit and the serial number, which I have sent them. So now i'm waiting for them to respond. Thanks for your help.

hi día you solve the problem?. I have the same issue Edith my inreach explore+, but support Chile didnt help me, they only said is a “battery issue “ we cant solve IT, cause we can not “open device “. (Sound as a joke)…
