position data not available

The position data is not sending with texts direct from my inReach. The position data was enabled from the iReach and the setting in my Account > Social are all enabled but, still no position data is showing on the Map in my Account. Is there something I'm missing?

  • I no longer have a legacy device with which to test. Some iR devices (and ALL of the mobile apps) require you to enable location transmission. Look  for a location “pin-like” icon to the left of the text field.

    The setting on Account > SMS Configuration has to do with whether the short link to the map is included with an SMS. Nothing to do with whether or not the message has location info. AFAIK, there is nothing relevant on the Social tab.

  • I read online that some account setting in "Social" needed to be enabled in order for the position data to show where the texts came from.
    Let me apologize, it's a inReach Explorer + device that I'm having problems with. My other device, an older inReach SE, doesn't have any problems with position data when texting.

  • This has to do with the inclusion of the map “link” or text coordinates in the SMS message. It has nothing to do with the location of the message on the map tab at explore.Garmin.com (or on the MapShare map if the message is visible there).
