InReach SE does not send or receive text messages to my iPhone

My inReach does not send to or receive from my iPhone that was used in my account. It is not associated with AT&T. I even tried texting after removing my cell number from my account but it still does not send/receive texts. All other contact numbers in the inReach work fine. Currently, I'm on the Annual/Contract Expedition Plan.

  • First, sync the device - even If you think it’s up to date.

    Try sending direct to your mobile number by typing it into the recipient field, rather than selecting a contact. This takes the whole contact sync issue out of the loop.

     Check your inbox at explore.garmin.com. If it’s there, the problem is with your cell provider. If not, it never made it off the device or the recipient was unrecognizable. If it’s not there and you can repeat the issue, open a support ticket.

    if it is there, the conventional wisdom is to disable the location link in text messages. It’s a shortened URL which some providers automatically block as spam.

  • Thank you, twolpertt. It's an inReach Explorer + and NOT the SE I was referring to. I got mixed up with my devices. Sorry about that. 
    I'll have to sync the device once it comes home from camping.
    There was no text in my inbox to my cell phone. :(

  • If it’s not in the inbox, it either did not make it off the device or it was addressed to an invalid contact. The latter is possible if the device was not sync-d prior to use. I have also seen a recent uptick in “missing” SMS messages here in the forums. Note that syncing the device after the fact will not recover the lost messages.

    If you sure the device was properly sync-d prior to use, open a support ticket.

  • I can see all the texts going to different cell numbers except the texts to my phone. I had them type in my cell number in the recipient field and that didn't work. I emailed Garmin support to see if they have any other suggestions that might work. Thank you.
