Downloading KML Maps to Garmin Explorer

I would like to download KML maps to my Garmin Explorer. Can someone tell me how to do this? I went to the KML portal but all I saw was a listing of Garmin devices. When I clicked on my device it just went to the product page. If it's a complicated process, is there some documentation on this topic?

Not possible. The Explorer/Explorer+ is a legacy device designed by DeLorme before Garmin acquired DeLorme. The device uses maps in the old DeLorme format. It is not capable of using any Garmin cartography, including so-called custom maps based on KML.

The only maps that are available for these units are those that are available for download at explore.garmin.com. Those remain in DeLorme format.
