inR+ Bearing Pointer?

I'm looking at my inR+ compass and notice there is no bearing pointer. I'm assuming that it's because I'm not NAVIGATING a ROUTE. Now if this is true, when you are navigating a ROUTE, what does the bearing pointer point to? The end of the ROUTE or a WAYPOINT on the ROUTE? I don't know what a destination is.

IIRC, the unit navigates toward the nearest "route point" AHEAD of you on the route. If you are on the route, this is the "next" point (the one immediately following the last one you traversed). But if you are actually off the route, then depending on the route topology, it might be "skipping some intermediate points".

I'm answering this from memory. I no longer have an active legacy device with which to test.
