Can't add device to Garmin Express

Have purchased the Garmin inReach Explorer+, set up as directed but when I try to add the device to Garmin Express it gives me the message "Garmin Express does not support this device." Would really appreciate help.

Garmin Express really does not support the legacy iR devices. Firmware upgrades are delivered via the desktop sync program (only). The sync program also handles user data. I believe you can also sync user data (but not firmware updates) via the legacy Earthmate mobile app.

Note that GCM also does not support these devices in any way.
