Garmin Inreach Explore Maps

Hey guys, I have done a couple hikes with my Garmin Inreach Explorer+, all of which have had tracking turned on. The only one that I can see online on the Explore page is the one most recently completed, the other 3 from previous are not showing up on the explore website map. They are all however showing up on the Earthmate app. Any suggestions?

  • Are you talking about the points sent by satellite, or the logged points which are local to the device? Tracks generated by sent points should appear in more or less real time. Older tracks should also be available on the Explore site map. Check the map filters to be sure they are not set to something like "current track" or "most recent track". In this situation, you should probably just turn them off.

Make sure that the user is visible. In the left sidebar, find the header for your user name and make sure it shows an eyeball (not an eyeball with a slash through it). Click the eyeball if you need to change it.

Finally, locate the "head pointer" (the blue triangle that marks your last known position). You will see a circled plus or circled minus down and to the right of the pointer. If this is a plus sign, click it to show tracks. (Clicking the minus sign hides your tracks and turns it into a plus sign.) And no, nobody knows why this feature is there.

Logged points are local to the device (and, probably, to the paired Earthmate app) until you sync with the web site. You can do that via the Earthmate app or via a wired sync with the desktop sync program. Until you sync, none of these will appear on the web site.

I do not remember if legacy devices have the whole concept of collections and the library. And I do not have an active legacy device with which to test. If you SEE the library in the left sidebar, then you need to make sure that the device has a primary collection. On the web site, click on the Plans and Devices "tab". On the right side of the section for the device, under the Sync heading, you will see a link for Collections>. Click that and set up a primary collection if none is designated. Until you do that, everything just gets dumped into the Library. That will eventually get out of hand from the standpoint of finding things.

Of course, you cannot create a collection there. You have to do that from the left sidebar of the Map page. Look for the Collections heading, then click the + sign on that heading and follow directions.

You can get started with the whole sync/Library/Collections process with this article:

    Good luck.
