I took my Inreach Explorer + out for the fist time today on the Bibbulmun Track. I marked my car as a Waypoint but the distance to return to it was shown as "as the crow flies" and not the distance on the actual track. How do I adjust that please?

That would require routable maps on the GPSr, which, AFAIK, are not available for the inReach Explorer series. If you were using a GPSMAP 66i, or Montana 7x0i with routable mapping loaded, this would be possible.
It’s been a long time, but IIRC, this might depend on whether or not you are actually following the track back to the car. If so, the indicated heading will be toward the nearest point on the track “ahead of you” along the track. At that point, I think the distance will be the distance along the remainder of the track - not the straight line distance.
if you are not following the track, then atlas_cached is correct. Straight line is all there is.
But I could be wrong. It’s been a really long time since I used a legacy device.
from a current user of explorer+, that is correct. Enabling Navigation to a waypoint (perhaps you did that) will show only straight-line distance remaining. Using the pointer directional buttons to move the map/pointer will also show only straight distance from current location to the pointer position.
Thankyou.
Thanks for replying. The path and the track weren't anywhere near each other but I think I hadn't synced the device and app correctly so I will try again.
So you c an change the direction of the line? Thankyou. I will try that and perhaps even read the manual. ;)
