inReach not syncing

I've had my inReach for probably close to 3 years now, however I don't think I've ever synced it before. Trying for the first time and the same error comes up no matter what I try - "Error: Failed to read server response."

I've tried different cords, different USB ports, restarting my laptop, restarting my garmin.

Any suggestions?

I can validate that using the original cable also worked for my Explorer+. Tried all the other recommendations and only this one worked. Thanks for the tip!

I know this thread is really old, but I also wanted to add my info that my sync problem was also a cable related item. The original cable works for charging but does not work for syncing anymore. Its been in the case and labelled since I bought the unit from brand new, and I know its the original cable. Just thought I'd add my experience for others

Garmin even sent me a new cable. I still could not sync. I cancelled my subscription. That was one expensive broke toy I bought.

That helped! I was using the wrong cable. It charged my phone but otherwise wouldn't sync!

Yep. If the screen doesn't show the USB symbol, it's just charging. Had no idea there were different cables. Changed the cables and worked fine.
