I'm wanting to know if the InReach Explorer has connectivity when in remote parts of Philippines and China, or do the govts block the comms? Anyone have any experience using over there?

Troy- I am going to China in 21 days and will check back on this thread to give you an answer. I am hoping the iR will perform in Mainland China as this is a big reason why I bought this device..
Excellent point. The fact that it works does not mean that it's legal. Or that you won't be stopped at the entry point because you are carrying the device.
I'm just following up with this post: I have decided *not* to take my inReach SE+ with me on this trip. All of the functions really attracted me to purchasing this unit; but on the other side of the equation, I just don't want to risk having the device taken away from me after paying the $300US plus set up fee's etc etc.
I am disappointed as I believe the inReach was a real solution to communicating remotely, but this is a China thing.. not a Garmin thing. I am planning on entering the country several times over the next several months. I thought I may be able to sneak it in/ pleased ignorance if found.. but as for entering multiple times.. I just don't want to risk it. Their country = their rules.
