Eliminating ghost points in tracks (straight lines back to start)?

Hi, when viewing tracks imported into Strava I get ghost point that usually links the end point with the start point or some random spot in the middle. While viewing in Earthmate or on the inreach website they appear normal but when viewing in Strava or other apps they appear as below. If I edit the tracks using a gpx editor it seems to corrupt the file and will not load into Strava at all with the message that the track contains no data or similar error msg. I have used many Edge and Epix products and don't have this issue. Any ideas on why this happens only with the Inreach?

Thx, Tom ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1385823.jpg
  • I suggest you raise a support ticket with Strava
  • You're probably going to have to look at the GPX with a text editor (like Notepad on Windows) to see what, if anything, is wrong with it. I haven't examined an export from the inreach website in some time. Last time I looked, the tracks exported from inreach.garmin.com looked OK. However, I have seen artifacts like this in situations where the track points do not appear in the .gpx file in chronological order. I don't believe the .gpx spec requires this, but a number of applications appear to assume that it will be true.

Either way, without looking at the .gpx file in detail, it's hard to tell what might be wrong.
