No GPS signal

So it seems my Inreach Explorer (only a couple of weeks old) is having issues with GPS. It has stopped sending tracking updates, and when sync;ed via pc there is no locations. The unit also shows the question mark on the GPS signal. I am in North Queensland Australia, on a motorcycle with clear view to the sky. My Garmin 650t is having no issue with GPS reception. The unit has been progressively getting worse, now I cant get it to receive any signal.

Tried to power down and up. Is there anyway to reset the unit or view satellite info? Any other ideas or am I going to have to return this thing?
  • FWIW, I just did a RAIM check, no GPS outages in this area.
  • For an Explorer, power the device down. Then hold X and the down-arrow on the rocker simultaneously for 60 seconds. Power up normally.

For an Explorer+, with the device powered up, hold X and power until the device shuts down. Then power up normally.

The next biggest hammer, which I would not recommend from the field, is a factory reset. This will require you to go through the activation sequence again.

Thanks, I will give that a try today.

  • My DeLorme Explorer (yellow version) had the no GPS signal issue all day yesterday. I mess with it way too much. Powering it down/up does not fix it. Finally I saw the reset procedure on the label on the back... with it on hold down the X and down arrow till it shuts down, then power up normal.

    This fixes the GPS function.
