inReach Not Activated?

I've been using an inReach for about a year and a half and recently after syncing I get a message that my unit is not activated. it seem that now I have to go through the activation process every time I sync and this can take about 1/2 hour. Is this now normal? If activating after every sync is required, is there a way to activate using the USB cable for faster activation?

  • No, this is not normal.

    Are you certain you have an active subscription? As of f/w 3.5 (April 28, 2017), it's possible to use a device for navigation without an active subscription. Although I haven't tried it myself, I assume this means that you would have to manually bypass the activation screens each time you start a device which has no active subscription. That said, I have no idea why or how this would interact with the sync process.

    If you do have an active subscription, call tech support. You should not be forced to re-active a device except after a factory reset.
