Garmin Discontinues inReach Explorer+?

I just received this notice from B&H where I had asked for notification when the inReach Explorer+ became available:

If true, I am very disappointed. This device would have been a very welcome addition to my gear.

Anyone else heard anything about the availability status of the inReach Explorer+?
  • Pretty sure this has to be miscommunication, although B&H is usually pretty reliable. Garmin would not discontinue the very product line for which they purchased DeLorme. Garmin store still shows "notify me when available" for both SE+ and Explorer+. Amazon shows both available for pre-order. thegpsstore.com shows SE+ as in stock and Explorer+ as backordered with availability date of February 28.

Might be worth a call or e-mail to B&H to confirm. Their web site still shows availability for the old DeLorme units, but shows no sign of the SE+ or Explorer+.
  • I expect I mentioned too many possible vendors in the previous answer - thus getting my post moderated as possible spam. This has to be miscommunication from them to you, or from Garmin to them. Garmin would not discontinue this product. It's the reason they acquired the original manufacturer in the first place. Status has not changed in any of the other channels I checked.
  • As their latest and greatest flapship of the inReach line I would find it highly unlikely that they would discontinue the product right as it is coming to market. I could however see that they might discontinue the Explorer and SE to make way for the new model.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  • Boy, was I wrong!

Garmin USA site shows the inReach Explorer+ available to order with the note, "Processing time is 7-10 days."

    Looks like we're in business!
