How do I get high detail activity recording?

I've set my unit (inReach Mini 2) to high detail recording. I think it is set correctly, because the battery life is absolutely terrible - so surely it's recording a lot? But when I open up the activity what I get is a series of straight lines covering around 9 minutes 30 each, followed by about 30 seconds worth of track that actually follows the route I took. Surely if it is using that much battery the detailed recording should be all of the time, shouldn't it?

Yes, that's how it should work. This seems to be a bug which has shown up in multiple forum threads. If you are on the most recent f/w and still have the problem, open a support ticket. The more people…

Thanks, I'll report it. Interestingly, the next trip I actually ended up cutting short and getting in a car at the point shown with the arrow, with the unit still running, untouched, in my pack. The next two pings showed the same behaviour, and then suddenly it started doing detailed tracking. Kept doing that until the track suddenly stops, around 11 hours after I had turned the unit on. Next time I looked at the unit, the battery was totally flat. Weird.
