How to get a logged track data from an Inreach mini to show up on the garmin explore website when Send interval is set to zero?

How to get a logged track data from an Inreach mini to show up on the garmin explore website when Send interval is set to zero? I have Syncronised the Mini by cable to PC and from Earthmate on Android, but no tracking data appears on my Map iin the explore.garmin.com/map page (Im logged in). I have serached for this very basic question, but found no answer. Thanks for any hints.

  • If it shows up at all, the logged data (by itself) is going to be an activity, not a track. The web site has special logic (which only works some of the time) to combine the sent points with the logged points. This avoids (is supposed to avoid, when it works) straight-line connections between sent points. Could be that the not-so-special magic is interfering with the display of a stand-alone activity.

If looking for the activity in the primary collection does not get it to display, open a support ticket.

  • Thanks. I have tried with different settings on Send and Logging interval to record movemenst outside with GPS / Satelite signal and moving. There are some lines showing in the Earthmate map on my Android, but nothing in the Explore site in my Map, neither any Activities nor any sign of these tracking data at server side.

And no meaningful infomation in the Earthmate app since map disappear when I zoom in to show less than aprox 120 km at longest side on map. There is no way of downloading maps. If I try this I get the choice "choose region", but this leads to a screen that promts me to "zoom out for map data", but to no awail since the zoom does not work..

So sorry to say; usefullness less than zero so far :-(

  • That's (one of) the problem(s) with the M1. You're stuck with Earthmate. But people also complain about the M2 and Explore app.

  • When using the log interval while using the device it stores the track log on the device until the device is synced. To clarify on the original mini log interval tracks that are recorded will show up as tracks not activities. They may appear in the unorganized catagory as well. Please make sure you don't have any filters on on the map that may be hiding the tracks that are synced over. Tracks Not Showing in MapShare or Garmin Explore Website

  • Thank you. I have allready tried clearing filters. From my 7 differnt tracking logs with different Send and Log settings by my Mini one point (but no other data) shows in the map in Korea, but there are no entries  in Library menu at left side at desktop browser menu. Also the map allways starts at my latest previous travel in Iceland, and the Center Map button does nothing.

I have sent one message, and it shows in the Message part of the desktop browser menu. If I choose the message the map centers at the location it was sent from, but there are no objects in the map itself.

I have tried Fireforx and Chrome browsers. I have syncronised by cable from PC logged in and from Andriod Earthmate.

  • Some of this sounds like the usual mess with the Map tab and/or MapShare. Or not. You can try opening a support ticket.

  • I will send you a private message.

  • Thanks a lot, but I have sent an error message to Garmin support.

  • Just an update, the issue is unresolved after one reply from Garmin service. The issue is not SEND interval, but that Explorer shows not data from my Inreach regardsless of settings.

I have now updated Firmware in my Inreach Mini. After updating firmware the 7th of May I was on a hike in Bukasan close to Seoul in South Korea where I set my Inreach to track with Send = 2hr and tracking interval = 5min. Later I synchronized through Earthmate but found no data on my Explorer page.

There are some "lines" on my Eartmate app in Android, but too see these I have to zoom in to a level with no maps. So since the map only shows the higher zoom levels this app is of no use. It is not possible to download more detailed maps, nor have I found any way to purchase any.

Today synced though cable to PC,. I tried to uninstall and installed Sync SW and synchronized my Mini again  Still there is no data.

  • The original Mini really doesn't make a good offline tracking device. Even when everything works as expected, it only stores the last track/activity on the device, so just starting new tracking by accident before syncing via Earthmate means this is lost forever. I am not even talking about use cases like multi-day backpacking trip. Anything that's not sent via satellite is dicey at best and easily lost. On the other hand, tracking points sent via satellite work fine, but they have limited resolution and cost money - they're more useful for others tracking you than for you having detailed track.

And then there's the whole having to deal with Explore website and their insane filters/collections system. You may have filters that get in a way of displaying the track, you may have not enable the appropriate type in Library selection (Activities or Tracks) on the left, you may have not enabled the collection it syncs to and these all will lead to the activity not showing up, even if it's there. I think even PhD is not enough to understand that thing.

It should be noted that Mini 2 makes a much better tracking device, especially with a high detail setting. It allows you to save the track as an activity at the end of the session and it's kept on the device indefinitely. And M2 works as a normal mass storage device when connected to the computer, so if you really want to, you can bypass the Explore mess altogether and just download the FIT file later, or even have it converted to GPX.
