Battery charges to only 47%

Hi I had my mini inreach turned off and stored at room temperature for about a year. I broke it out for an upcoming trip and found that it only charges to 47% I tried Power pack and wall adapter to charge but same results. I bought this unit last year and haven't used it much.Any suggestions?

  • There are some things you can try. But you may be better off opening a support ticket, especially if the trip is coming up soon. Some of these things are time-consuming and may not do any good.

Various levels of reset, up to and including a factory reset. Note that a factory reset discards all user data and requires you to repeat the outdoor portion of the activation sequence.  Resets are described here (sorry about the URL, I couldn't find the article without searching):

I doubt that any of the reset will have any effect on the charge state. But at least resets are quick to try.

The other thing you can try is repeated discharge/charge cycles. IMO, this will likely work if the battery is actually capable of retaining full charge. Even if it does work, it may take a LOT of cycles. And it's possible that the battery is just shot - particularly if it ran completely flat during extended storage.

    That's why I'd suggest opening a ticket.

Edited to add: If you do elect repeated discharge/charge cycles, don't take it lower than 20% to 30%. You don't want to run it flat again.
