30 second logging points stopped partway through a tracking session

I'm a new inReach Mini user, trying to get to know the features and behavior better in advance of a solo motorcycle / hiking trip in a few weeks.  So far my results are very spotty.  I'm struggling to get consistent, reliable tracks on the Explore or MapShare sites.  What I am seeing so far will, no doubt, confuse my family as they try to keep track of my progress.

The weird case that I had the other day was on a test bike ride.  I have my send interval set to 10 minutes and my logging interval set to 30 seconds.  Before I started my bike ride, I turned on the Mini and set it outside to get a GPS fix.  Once it had its location, I selected Start Tracking, and set off on my bike.  After my ride, I stopped tracking and left the Mini outside while it finished sending data and checking for new "mail".  Once it was all done, and after I had also done a Sync in the Earthmate app on my phone, I powered the Mini off.

Back at my computer, I went and looked up my ride on the Explore and MapShare websites.  What I found was that while the track was complete, the 30-second logging intervals spontaneously stop about 75% of the way into the ride.  In the screenshot attached you can see that the tail end of the ride only shows a couple 10-minute send points.

Do other people see similar things?  Is this type of things common?

  • Following up on this (I'm also chatting with Garmin Support).  The root of my issue appears to be the Earthmate app on iOS.  It looks like what happened is that it didn't finish sending the logging points up to Garmin, and it lost my email and password so it couldn't authenticate any more.  Once I signed back in to my account in the earthmate app, it synced and then the missing 30-second log points appeared.  Now (2 days later, and after manually fixing the email and password) my log shows correctly.

My confidence is not high with regard to the Earthmate app.  Frowning2
