Internal memory on device

I'm trying to see if it's possible to use an inReach Mini as a device to track a 20 days backpacking trip. I will not have reception during the trip so I will not be able to sync each day's track to Earthmate. When I connect my inReach Mini to a computer, I see it listed as having only a total of 6.3MB. I've not experienced with GPS devices, but this doesn't seem like it'd be enough memory to record a full 20 day thru hike. Can anyone give me some advice on whether or not this it true?

  • There is no easy way to relate the available memory on the device to the length of a track log since we don't know how the track log is stored internally. I'm sure it's not in a verbose format like .gpx, but we don't know how compressed it is. And we don't know what else the memory might be used for.

To a degree, you can control the size of the accumulated log by setting the logging interval (as opposed to the send interval). The obvious tradeoff is that less frequent logging results in a less accurate track.
