share location frequency

Will be doing Kilimanjaro soon and plan to turn off the mini at night to save battery power; will I have to share location everyday to family/friends or only at the beginning?

"Sharing your location" is a little bit of a misnomer. This sends the recipient a message which has a link to your MapShare page. I think it also sends a location. But the location is sent just that one time. In order to update your location on the MapShare page (which the recipient can repeatedly visit), you must either allow the unit to send a track point or send a message directly to MapShare.

In your scenario, a message to MapShare once a day is probably the best answer.
