There are no current or recent reported outages. You can check status from the upper right corner of the explore.garmin.com web site. Or via this URL: https://status.inreach.garmin.com
From there, you can also subscribe to email status updates.
If the problem persists, call tech support. If you have not done so, try messages to different numbers. And, if possible, to people with different cell providers. In the past, there have problems which were unique to specific providers.
Recent SMS I sent took three months to show up at recipients devices, so give it some time.....
Do not depend on the inReach for life saving services.

There are no recently reported SMS outages. Most of the persistent problems reported in the past were traced to issues with AT&T SMS handling. That is, AT&T getting in the way of messages with particular types of content. AFAIK, all of those were promptly resolved. But it did happen at least two different times, as AT&T made continuing changes.
If you are still having problems, call tech support.
Just happened to me today. But even worse, after pinwheel app shows a happy green sent indicator. No indication of failure except that when near a cell tower was able to call and learn that no messaged were received by either party. Not good.
Give it about three months.... They will eventually get there! (mine did)
Sent on the device or in the app means it got off the device. Lots of moving parts from there to the recipient. No way to determine delivery to the final recipient except by the recipient. You can check the inbox on your account at explore.garmin.com to see if it made it to the Garmin servers. That’s about it.
