Is it possible to hide the InReach data page while recording an activity?

I just got my inReach activated and recorded my first activity.  I noticed it added the InReach data page with status, InReach distance/time, and the menu option.  I already have enough data pages to scroll through, and if I really want to send a message, I'll use the InReach control by pressing the power button.  And given that I already have all the distance/time info I need given I'm using a watch designed to do just that, the other info is redundant.

Please tell me there is a way to disable this.

  • You’re talking about data pages on a paired watch, correct? Don’t know the answer offhand, but will do some checking if that is the question.

  • I looked at this with a fenix 5XPlus. I did not get quite the same results you saw. I only see one extra iR screen in the data screens rotation for the activity. It's the message list. Long press on the "back" button gets to other iR functions from that screen while recording an activity. Either way, I was unable to remove the screen from the rotation.

I was using a copy of the Walk activity. All GPS-related activities behave the same way. Checked to be sure that the iR screen was not explicitly represented in the list of data screens. It is not. I tried removing the map screen from the rotation (since it was the only obviously GPS-related screen in the list). iR screen still shows up. I tried disabling GPS entirely. iR screen still shows up (not tracking, of course). You probably would not want to do that anyway.

I could certainly have missed something. But I was unable to find any way to remove it.

  • Thanks for looking at this.  Sounds like we are seeing exactly the same thing.  There is just one data page that gets added but shows different data depending on connection and tracking.  If the inReach is tracking, it shows the first screen.  If it isn't, it just shows the messages.  And if it doesn't see the inReach, it just shows a "searching" screen.  So once you've paired with an inReach, even if you aren't taking it with you, you always get an extra data page in every activity you do.  I only expect to take my inReach with me 1 out of 15 outings, if that.  So this is most annoying.  I'm basically going to have go into sensors and set the status to "off" most of the time so it doesn't show up.

  • I think the searching for inReach will eventually time out. You’ll probably see one more message about keeping it in range, which you can dismiss. The extra screen might disappear at that point. Or not.

i didn’t try shutting off the Ant+ radio/sensors. Thought you might have other things connected. But I’m forgetting - you can disable the iR individually on the watch.

  • Correct.  You can just turn off that one sensor on the FR945. But still a bit of a pain.  And remembering to re-enable it.

After 32 minutes of recording an activity with the inReach turned off, the "searching" screen is still shown on the FR945.  So it doesn't time out.
