So I uploaded new firmware 2.6 to my InReach Mini by using the Sync App on my Mac desktop. The app says im now up to date, with 2.6 loaded. My InReach Mini stills shows as 2.5. Am I missing something in this??
Have not updated my Mini, so I can't say for sure. However, I would be suspicious that the update failed for some reason and sync did not notice.
I assume you have power-cycled the Mini since the sync. If not, that's the first step. If the version still shows 2.5 after that, I'd call tech support. It's possible to update the device manually, but you need the necessary firmware file to do so.
Please download and run Garmin Express on your device to update the software on the device. The inReach Mini updates via Express and the inReach Sync just focuses on the settings. If this does not work, then please reach out to your Support Teams so we can work with you one on one.
(Also, we have seen some Mac user's running Express and the device's software is staying on the older version. If you experience this, please try run Express on a PC to see if that fixes the issue for you.)
exit106 I have seen reports of this lately, and it is currently on happening on Macs. Please run Garmin Express on a PC and then eject your device for the newest software.
Well this is quite a bummer. I have no PC around where I can install software (companies are good at locking down machines now). I'll have to wait for Garmin to come around with a Mac software fix to resolve this nagging problem. Long thought these platform issues had disappeared at the turn of the last century. I can be so naive. :(:(:(
I don‘t think it is a global plattform issue, because the update worked fine for me using a MacBook Pro. My inReach mini is on 2.6 since a few days after the update was available, and everything works as expected. However, I noticed today that there was an update to Garmin Express since I updated my inReach... so I can only tell for sure that everything worked with the latest software at the time the inReach mini update went live. Perhaps this helps to narrow down any issues?
That's even more of a bummer, knowing that it's not a general mac issue. But might be good, since I can try with an older mac or a mac from another person. I'll post after the experiment. Almost happy!!!
