I'm a new inReach mini owner. I'm testing the message send/receive capability to understand how it works and what to expect.
My intention is to use the inReach with an iPhone running Garmin's Earthmate application. I typically travel with my phone (to use Gaia) and feel that composing messages on the phone is more convenient than using the inReach button interface.
After activating a basic inReach subscription, I downloaded the Earthmate app to my phone and connected to the inReach via Bluetooth. I sent a test message to my primary contact (composed on the phone) and she received it successfully. I asked her to send a reply.
After some delay, I received her reply on the inReach, but I did see the reply on the Earthmate app on my phone.
As this to be expected? I thought the Earthmate app would upload the reply message from the inReach and display it. The documentation from Garmin that I've looked at provides little detail on how the messaging interface is supposed to work. Clarity would be appreciated. Thanks!
