Delayed track logging

I don't think this topic has been covered before. I've have my inReach Mini set at 1 second logging and 10 minute sending. On the past couple of activities that I've taken my Mini on, the track points on the website (after syncing using the Windows app) are not showing for the first 10 minutes or so. Yesterday on a 11-mile run around town, the first track point appears right about the 10-minute mark, probably corresponding to the first point sent to the satellites. On a bicycle ride a few days earlier the first track point appears closer to the 12-minute mark of the ride. The tracking of both activities is very clean after that initial delay showing the exact route that I took. I'm wondering if I have something set incorrectly. I do have AutoTrack set to On. I've had my inReach Mini for about three weeks, so I admit I'm still getting used to it.
  • Where are you carrying the Mini? The reason I ask is that the Mini is notoriously bad about acquiring the initial fix in less than ideal conditions. I once started tracking, carried the device in my hand, at my side, with the antenna carefully exposed for 15 minutes - and it never did acquire. If it has no fix, it does not log or send until it does acquire. Since then, I've made it a point to make sure it has a fix (check the location screen) before I start tracking (or moving, for that matter).
  • Thanks for the information about the slow initial acquisition. I did not know that. In the running use, I had it inside a zippered compartment on the left shoulder of my hydration vest. In the cycling use, I had it inside a compartment of a bag mounted to the top tube of my bicycle. It won't be too much of a hassle for me to open the location screen to verify that I have a fix before I venture out for my run or ride.
