Hello,I've imported a gpx file into the inreach web map site thingamajig (no idea what it is actually called), and tried syncing to the inreach mini and the tracks do not appear. I have synced waypoints. How exactly can I get tracks on there? Any help appreciated, thank you.
Can you see them on the Earthmate app? So when you say track, do you actually mean routes? I thought tracks were created after you stop the timer so to speak. Routes are something you plan ahead before stepping off.
They were tracks I found online and uploaded to the web map thinger. Not sure I'm explaining it properly. Figure it's better than creating a route on the map. I've attached a screen shot, not sure where to actually find them on the mini.
Tracks imported into the web site become routes on import. They will be sync-d to the device as routes. AFAIK, there is no provision for downloading tracks to the device as tracks.
You should see the imported "track" as a route under the LIbrary. You can now convert it back to a track. However, I do not believe that this will get it sync-d back to the device as a track.
I'm still getting used to the whole library/collections thing. I believe that control over what routes and waypoints get sync-d has now been moved up to the collection level.
I am also no longer sure whether/how much imported tracks get thinned when they are converted to routes.
Thanks twolpert, I found the options for routes and nothing appears. Not really sure, I guess they simply can't be imported. The way points I included are there though.
Just took a closer look at your picture. You DO have tracks, not routes. Tracks won't ever by sync-d to the device - only routes. The ability to import as a track instead of a route is a relatively new feature. It showed up since the last time I did an import.
To get a route you can sync to the device, click the "import" button on the map page (the one with the arrow pointing into the box). In the resulting pop-up, click the button to import GPX, KML, KMZ. In the next pop-up, click the button Import As Routes. Note the warning about "thinning" the points down to 200 for a single route. Finish the import and sync to the device. Your route should appear.
Wow that worked. Thanks a lot for taking the time to look into this. I never would have figured that out, it does make sense though. I just automatically chose import as tracks without really thinking about it.
Happy New Year! 2 years later, this was super helpful to me as I was similarly stuck and importing as a course as you suggested worked perfectly! Thank you and much appreciated.
