Mini not sending or receiving to one number

My wife tracked me on share.garmin.com and sent me a message that I received. I replied but my wife never got the message. I have since tried sending directly from the Mini and she can never receive messages. She can still send via the website. She is listed as my emergency contact but I don't think that is an issue because I am also on the same emergency contact list. I have tried other cell numbers of friends and families and they work fine.

Anyone out there having issues ?
  • Let's ignore the use of share.garmin.com for a minute. It just confuses the issue.

    Is your wife's cell phone number attached to a contact on your account at inreach.garmin.com? Not as an emergency contact, but in the Contacts list. If so, magic happens when you attempt to send something to that number. Each contact is assigned a short ID which is known to both the device and the Garmin servers. When you send a message to a contact, the device actually sends the short ID number, not the full telephone number (or e-mail address, or whatever). This decreases the amount of satellite traffic. To put that another way, it leaves more room for the message text.

    If the device and the Garmin servers get out of sync, the message either goes nowhere or goes to the wrong number. If this is the problem, a wired sync will usually cure the issue for subsequent messages.
