Garmin etrex won't boot

I have a Garmin etrex touch and it crashes at boot up. I followed all the recommendations held the power button for a good min. Is there any firmware coming to fix this problem?

I was able to connect to my PC with a lot of trouble is it possible to just wipe the GPS and start over using the Garmin connect software

How do I fix this

Very often this is caused by a power issue. I would start by swapping the batteries, or if they are rechargeable, charge the device for at least an hour, then follow the soft reset steps at Device won;t start.
