I was interested to see the new Garmin Messenger app that automatically switches between using data on the phone or a paired inReach if there is no phone signal. This seemed like a killer app for easier text messaging.
I've just been trying to get this working with the GPSMAP86i (with satellite subscription) and the messages are failing to send. As this has built in inReach functionality I assumed it to be supported. The connection between the devices is fine according to the Garmin Explore app.
Does anyone know if this is actually supported? According to the Garmin website the app only works with that new Messenger inReach and the Mini 2... but in my experience of Garmin the compatible pages often misses out the GPSMAP86i when there is compatibility. My guess is in this case that is not the case
