sending msg to own IR does not work any more?

As a private user with a couple of devices, I do message checking and test-replies manually. But for an organization or company there must be software available that does this, at least for SMS.

then ask Garmin for that. They will be very unhappy abt someone trying to answer their msg so simple. I am almost certain, they will not tolerate it and will make all possible to break it if someone succeed make it operational.

Simple answering messages is blocked by purpose. The aim is to avoid any kind of spam on the network. This is also why you can not answer directly any SMS or mails originated from inreach device. This is why no google or similar will be allowed to answer automatically any messages.

Garmin will allow only their own parrots in order to have control over the costs of traffic passed to Iridium.

In fact, Garmin has an parrot, but it has less functionality then when I could do a loop test. I will have to use the Garmins parrot in future probably, but I am very upset that this was  not suitably communicated in advance, so it will need work to migrate on my side.

To use automatic parrots is really risky thing. As I mentioned, we have such system for checking our satphones. When I call the parrot, it will try to figure out if this is a real phone, a real human being at it and it will call back, thus verifying the number and even check my microphone. It will ask me some questions and I have to answer them correctly etc. Rather complex situation, and as it has to call me back, charges will apply.

Not really some fast, do it yourselves set up.

How do your users reply to an SMS?

The URL (optionally) included in a text message opens a page with no messaging function.

SMS from my inReach Mini 2 is answered directly, like any normal SMS.

The recipient can reply to a message sent to SMS from an iR device in the normal way - just reply to the text from the messaging app on the phone. The ability to do this has a limited lifetime. Nobody is sure exactly how long, but it is on the order of several weeks. The SMS may contain a link to map web page. This page is for location only, No reply capability is provided.

The recipient can reply to a message sent to email from an iR device ONLY by using the included link to open a map page on the web. Unlike the map page for SMS (above), this one provides a means to reply to the email. The email recipient CANNOT send a reply back to the iR device by replying to the email. I assume, but do not know for sure, that this also has a similarly limited lifetime.

All of this is by design. It helps avoid sending "spam" to iR devices. In particular, you cannot ORIGINATE a new message to an iR device from either SMS or email. you can only reply as described above.

Because of the limited lifetime of the reply capability, most of us "prime the pump" before each trip. We send a message to everyone whom we think might need to contact us during the trip. This ensures that they can "reply" to do so.

This would be disater for Edvard, as here the message is returned within less then 5sec after it was transmitted, so it defintely does not go to any real big mailserver, it is just some parrot at entry to Garmin

Takes lot of work with large number of users

on my side still no luck, tested with two professional accounts and two personal accounts again, no luck, no answer comes back

I asked support, they say 'this is probably so and won't be changed any more'
