Restrict old waypoints from Mapshare public view

Hello,

Is there anyway to control the visibility of old waypoints on mapshare without restricting the visibility of active data?

I'm trying to have my public mapshare page show only recent data, the problem is, old waypoints are still showing up. I've restricted the data date in Social-Settings, but older waypoints still remain. I've put the waypoints in a collection that is not visible on my social Mapshare settings, however, the wapoints remain in the Library, which I do continue to share because I want people to be able to see my active tracking. I also tried deleting a waypoint from the Library and it unfortunately deletes it in the collection as well.

I don't have a solution for this. But I can explain the behavior with respect to library and collections. The library is where the data really lives. Collections contain "pointers" to the data in the library. This means:

You can delete things from a collection without affecting other collections or the library.

Deleting things from the library deletes them from the library and from all collections - permanently.

I suspect that the waypoint behavior in MapShare is by design. Tracks and so forth are dated and could have a limited "lifetime" as to how long you want to see them. Waypoints also have dates, but I suspect that the MapShare folks don't think they should have a limited lifetime. You marked the point because it's important to you. (They think) it'll be important to you whenever you are in that area - regardless of when. Matter of opinion, I suppose.

About the only way to get what you want is to stop sharing the library. Instead, segregate your waypoints by collection and selectively share the collections.
