Earthmate Sync Passwort wrong

Hi guys, is the Earthmate sync password or the inreach sync password a dfifferent one, than the explore.garmin one?

I dont know why, but i wanted to change some information online and sync it to my Garmin Inreach Mini, but the inReach Sync iMac Program and the Earthmate iOS App is asking for a password and I do not know what password it is.

When I use the explore.garmin login password, it is not working. I already changed it via "forgot password". When I try to change it at explore.garmin under Account -> Change password, the systems says that the old password is wrong.

Garmin Express kind of works, updated to 3.70 but the Mini says its still 3.60 on the device?!

What do I wrong? :/

  • Yes, it is the explore.Garmin.com password for the account to which the mini is assigned. It sounds like you might not know your current password. Try “forgot password” at explore.Garmin.com again - and carefully note the result.

    Beware: Garmin uses a single sign on system. When you sign into any Garmin property with a particular email address, Garmin SSO *sarcasm helpfully /sarcasm creates the account on all Garmin properties. For example, if you use different email addresses for the forums and your explore.Garmin.com account, you end up with two explore accounts - one which really has your device assigned and one (the forum email) with no devices. Since actual sessions are also SSO, signing onto the forums then visiting explore.Garmin.com will show you the account with no device. The bottom line is that the Garmin SSO scheme only works for people who have exactly ONE Garmin account.

    Express is a different animal. You aren’t necessarily “signed in” when you Express. It’s all based on your local PC configuration and the device serial number. IIRC, 3.7 is being rolled out in phases. It may be that your device is still in a future phase.

  • Thank you, but then I do not understand why it is not working. 
    i was logged in in explore.Garmin and I 100% know the password. I could not change it at Accounts so I logged out to did a „forgot password“ password change. I logged in again and wanted to change the password in my account. It did not work. 

    one thing is strange: when you change your password with the “forget password” function, I can use 3 same letter in a row. If I use “change password” it is not allowed. So I overrule the passwords requirements of explore.garmin when I use “forgot password”.

    But at the end, I definitely know my explore.garmin password, can log in and log out but if I want to sync with Earthmate with the password, it says wrong password. Also when I want to change my password via my explore.garmin Account settings, it says wrong old password.


    I only have one account at garmin.

  • And my Garmin Express says, that I am on 3.70, but my inReach Mini and my Earthmate says I am on 3.60.

  • Believe what the device says. Express is not always right. Sometimes it reflects a version that has been sent to the device but not yet installed. And sometimes it’s just flat wrong.

    With regard to the password issue, open a support ticket with Garmin.

  • Thank you, I will call garmin now. In 4h I will leave Guadeloupe on a sailing trip to the Azores. Hope it works on the trip.

  • Told Garmin Support that I have the problem and the first level support could not help. But he informed the inreach team. After 4hrs they tried to call me, but I missed the call. 

    I checked it and it worked again. Seems like my account where locked or something else.

    Problem is solved.
