message to AT&T numbers not working again... Sept 12, 2020

There doesn’t seem to be a current status of this ongoing issue, pretty frustrating. I am unable to send SMS messages from my inreach mini, with or without the location link, to people using AT&T including myself. I’ve seen plenty of posts about this, but all are marked as fixed 6 months ago. Looks broken again. Inreach status page shows all is a-ok, but it’s not. Any help appreciated. Of course Garmin support is not open on the weekends....

Very frustrating. I also just bought an inreach mine and we use AT&T. Might have to send it back and get another product that will work.

Same issue here. I just bought a Garmin Inreach Explorer +. I had no idea this was an issue until I tested the device I my morning mountain bike ride and nobody in my family with an AT&T phone could receive any message. Emails went through, and family without AT&T received just fine. I unchecked all the location link, map stuff, etc. Tried again, nothing. I've researched this issue and it looks like there are posts that keep saying "this is fixed" but it doesn't seem fixed at all. Frustrating as many of my family never check their emails, timely. Thus, the device really is useless to me at this point unless I switch from AT&T. I did call AT&T and they were unhelpful.

Same Issue here , if it is ATT blocking voluntary SMSs coming from a trustable source, We should all go and file an FTC complain , att has a competitive business with Garmin : https://www.business.att.com/products/vehicle-location-tracking.html

ATT will have to explain itself, especially because they are competing with Garmin directly as the link above shows, it is very likely that it could cause them some severe fines

I experienced this yesterday, and I am indeed trying to send to an AT&T number. And my message was configured to include location.

Garmin is now considering this a minor outage, you can subscribe to updates from https://status.inreach.garmin.com/. As of 9/14 USA morning, "Identified - We are working with AT&T. We recommend turning off the location when possible when sending messages to AT&T customers until this issue is resolved.

It’s been failing without the location info as well. Nothing gets through to AT&T

The sms to email gateways for at&t seem to be working for me. I understand this is a WORKAROUND not a fix. Try the phone number with [email protected]. These might also work: [email protected] and aaapppnnnn@txt.att.net where aaa is area code, ppp is prefix, and nnnn is number. They've updated the status again so they are changing things the same time people are trying to use it.
