If you've been following the news, you'll know that SpaceX is busy launching a new satellite internet constellation, Starlink. The Starlink satellites will be significantly lower (closer) than the Iridium constellation. This implies that the power necessary to connect with those satellites will be substantially lower than needed to contact with the Iridium constellation.
Does anyone know if Garmin is working on a next generation of inReach devices that would connect to the Starlink constellation? This could result in smaller (lighter) devices, longer battery life, or additional capabilities due to the increased bandwidth and lower latency.
Just curious.
